Tangerines and grapefruit!!

Hi everybody!

I'm not really sure what to think of this week... It was very tough..
Missionary time is weird. The days seem long but the weeks are short.
It was a little challenging this week, just because I'm in a new area
and I'm trying to get to know everyone and remember where people live
and the street names. My companion is going home after this transfer
:( so I'll be staying here.... And I need to know my stuff!! With that
being said... Ive had a lot on my mind lately! We were able to do
service a lot this week! We have a lady that we go do service for, and
we pick tangerines in her back yard. It's actually a lot of fun and
we've been going and picking around 15 bags each time we go! So, this
week we went and picked her fruit but we realized that we had picked
all the lower fruit. The fruit that was left was super duper high and
the only way to get them was to climb her tree. So what did we do? We
climbed her tree ;)  with her permission of course! But sister Dudley
and I were able to get so high up her tree and pick all of the fruit
at the top! We then went to her neighbors house and picked her
grapefruit! When we go and pick fruit we give it to families in the
ward or just offer it to people so that we can talk to them. It's
actually a really fun way to strike up a conversation... Sometimes
it's hard to just go up to someone and be like "hey you... Wanna learn
about Jesus right here, right now??" But this way we say "hey want
some grapefruit?" And people usually are like "oh sweet, you're a
stranger but you're offering me food so you must be awesome" and then
we talk with them and get to know them and start talking about the
gospel :) ITS SO FUN!!
We were able to give out around 20 bags of citrus from Tuesday to
Friday and then we went and picked the rest of her fruit on Saturday.
We will be giving them out over the next couple of days!
I love learning and hearing about the atonement of Jesus Christ. It
always makes me happy and thankful, and it's something that I can
actually teach..... Lessons are harddddd!! But the atonement is
something that I have a strong testimony about, I think that's why
it's easier for me to teach it. We had a lesson about the atonement
yesterday in church. I had a weird day yesterday... But once I saw
what our lesson was on it made me 10X happier. The lady who was
teaching relief society asked us "why do you think that Jesus Christ
would suffer for our sins? We make horrible choices.... So why would
he do that for us?" And it was probably dead silent for a good 2
minutes as everyone was thinking. I'm not sure if she meant for the
question to be answered but I blurted out " because he loves us!!"
Haha I think I startled some older women because I said it so loud!
But it's true. Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us so much
that they would do anything for us. Sometimes it's hard for us to wrap
that around our heads. Some one actually loves you enough to do that.
I just think that's so cool, and I didn't really realize the depth of
it until I came on my mission. My eyes have been opened to so many
things!! I love it :)
On gospel library you can download some videos called "his grace" and
it has a lot of little videos about people and their trials. I love
them because they're so real! Sometimes you don't think anyone else is
going through a hard time except you... So I challenge all of you to
look those videos up. They're great:)
Have a great week, I love you all!!

Love, Sister Malloree Arnold

Gosh okay I look so weird in this picture... Don't look at me just look at my cute little companion hahahahahahaha... At least my brows look good though, right? 😂 sorry for the lack of pics... I'll take more next week.

The Valley (Bethany Home Ward)

Hi everyone Hi everyone!

So my week was crazy, and busy, and just super crazy. Transfers were
last week and like I said before I got transferred to the valley!! I'm
in the Phoenix north stake and I cover one ward, the Bethany home
ward! I absolutely love it here already. It hasn't gotten too hot
yet... So I'm thankful for that. But seriously, the people here are
awesome and it reminds me so much of home I love it. Everyone is super
welcoming and kind, it's really nice :)
I am now with Sister Dudley!! She is awesome and she's a great
missionary. She's super tiny so it's funny to see us together since
I'm so tall haha. But she's great and I'm lucky to be companions with
her for her last transfer before she goes home!
This week really just consisted of getting settled in, getting to meet
the members and making visits! We are teaching a new investigator and
he's from South Sudan! He's super cool and really interested in
learning about the gospel, I'm excited for him.
I was reading in the Book of Mormon this morning and came across as
scripture that I just love so much. I have my little picture calendar
on my desk and every time I find a quote or scripture that I like I
write it on a stick note and stick it on that month! It's kinda cool,
and I like it because I can go back a read the things I liked during
that time. So the scripture is mosiah 16:9... And I'm not gunna write
it out just so that y'all will have the opportunity to go and search
for it yourselves ;) but seriously go look it up and highlight it! You
better highlight it because it's great.
It's talks about how Jesus Christ is the light and life of the world.
And it's true! He is! When I think of happiness and light I think of
Christ and the gospel. I have learned so many mind blowing things on
my mission already... It's incredible. The true light of Christ is in
all of us, by saving and loving one another. I love teaching that
because if we do those things it will not only bring the world
happiness but it will also bring you happiness :) I know this gospel
is true!! I teach it all the time and I love teaching it! It has shown
me so much and taught me more than I could ever imagine. Read your
scriptures, say your prayers, and thank Heavenly Father for every day
that you've been given. He blesses you in so many ways!! And he loves
you. It's so important to remember that he loves you and is there for
you always.

Love y'all, have a great week!! :)

saying bye to Barbara

So fun!!

Bethany Home Transfer Day April 13th

I'm in the Bethany home ward and I have sister Dudley as a companion.
She's awesome! She's also super tiny haha I feel like a giant. She is 4'8!
My apartment is really
nice, a lot bigger than my old one. We each have our own bathroom and
closet. And then study room and a big open kitchen.  I already
love this area. I like it a lot actually so I think it'll be fun. And
I think I'll probably be here awhile. Sister Dudley was doubled in
here when she first got here and she's been here almost a year! I
wouldn't mind staying here for a year haha.  Anyways I love you and
I'll talk to you on Monday! OH! Also I get to drive >:) since she's
from out of the US she doesn't have a license and can't drive so I
drive. We bike during the day and drive at night because it's a little
sketchy here. But yeah. Here's my new address if you wanna send me
anything :) love you!!

Transfers April 2016

Hi everyone!!

This week was pretty crazy and stressful and fun and just weird.
Transfers are this week!! And I'm being transferred to Bethany Home!
Not sure where that is but I'm excited :) I'll be biking... During the
summer... In Arizona... Pray for me :) it'll be an awesome experience
though!!!!

We had our zone meeting on Thursday, those are always really fun. We
get to have lunch and then talk about our area and how it's
progressing. We also discuss things that can help our zone and what we
want to accomplish for the month! I love my zone, everyone is really
positive and fun to be around so it makes the work go by fast. On
Friday we had our trainer/trainee meeting. We went down to the valley
for that, and we talked about how we were doing in our companionships.
We were split from our trainers halfway through and had a meeting with
one of the AP's. We talked about one of the general conference talks
in April 2004 of choices, and how we can make right choices even when
others aren't. We then got to hear from our mission president,
president Griffin. After trainer/trainee meeting my car went to cafe
rioooooo!! We decided we might as well stop and get some because
there's none up in the north... Well there is but it's not in our area
and we just so happened to be going by one ;) THEN!! On Saturday we
had a baptism!!! Barbara got baptized and we are so happy for her!
She's an awesome person. She is not in our ward but sister Bingham and
I were able to teach her and get to know her. She was glowing and so
happy when she came out of the water. I'm so happy for her :)
I started the book of Mosiah this week! Chapter 3 really stuck out to
me.. It talks about Jesus Christ and how king Benjamin saw, and knew
that Christ would come to the earth and minister unto the people.
Did you know that the Lord is omnipotent? Did you know that Satan is
not? It makes sense actually.... God can be with you wherever you go.
Church, your home, the temple, anywhere you are God can be also. As
long as you are worthy! Satan on the other hand cannot be everywhere,
as long as we live and make worthy choices. Mosiah 3:19 shares that
the natural man is an enemy to God, and always will be! As long as we
have the spirit and make choices that are pleasing to God, he will
always be with us. I know that as we strive to live a true and honest
life we will see the hand of God throughout our lives. He is there,
and he loves us. He wants us to return with him again! Serve others,
be patient, be kind, Show love to someone who is struggling. Love as
Christ would love.

I love y'all and I hope you have a great week!! :)

General conferenceeeeeee!!

Hi erryyybodyyyy!

This week was pretty good, sometimes I can't even remember what I did
during the week.... That's why we have companions... (Not really there
are more important reasons) and that's also why I keep a journal.
We did 8 hours of service this week!!!! Wahoooooo! I love doing
service. :) we went and helped 2 families move, and then we did some
cleaning for another member! I went on exchanges this week in
flagstaff! It was super nice because we got to hangout at the
institute building for our prime and we talked to so many youth! It
also snowed while I was there..... Wasn't too happy about that.... It
was so cold and I'm a wimp :(
BUT HEY!! General conference was this weekend and it was so so so
good.  I learned so much, and I'm grateful to be a missionary at this
time. It seems like I've retained more information during this
conference. (Maybe it was because I watched it at the church) haha!
No, but I really felt like I had so many moments where things just
seemed to click and make sense. I love all of the sessions at
conference, but Sunday's session stuck out to me especially. President
Thomas S. Monson, talked briefly but so powerfully. He talked about
our choices and our faith. "Choose the harder right, instead of the
easier wrong" how powerful is that! Right choices generally aren't the
easiest, but they are the most rewarding. Elder Christopherson talked
on fathers. I'm really glad he did, we don't talk about fathers as
much as we should :) it made me miss my dad so much, but it made me
think of how grateful that I am that he provides for our family and
that he holds the priesthood. Elder cook talked about temples, man do
I so wish that I could go to the temple every single day!! On my
mission I'm allowed to go once every 3 months. I am about 2 hours away
from a temple. If you are fortunate enough to be near a temple, please
go regularly. I had no idea how blessed I was until I couldn't go
whenever I wanted. Make temple attendance a regular thing and you will
notice the blessings. The temple is sacred and you feel the spirit so
strongly. I LOVED president Uchtdorf's talk. He said: "God sees us as
we truly are and he sees us worthy of rescue" we are all worthy of our
Savior's love, as long as we are doing everything we can to be worthy
of that love. Even when we stray from the path our father in heaven
has given us repentance so that we may live with him again! Draw
nearer unto God and he will in turn draw nearer unto you. I loved all
of the general conference talks but the last one that I'm going to
mention is Elder Holland. I felt the spirit so strongly while he was
speaking. What an amazing man of God he is. He said: "we can improve,
and the great thing about the gospel is we get credit for trying" our
Heavenly Father notices our struggles and when we try to remain
faithful to him. He loves us no matter what and I think that is just
absolutely amazing. "All things work together for good, for them that
love God" God has a plan for each of us, he just requires us to stay
on the path, repent when needed, be Christ like to others, and love.
General conference was different this year, I'm away from my family
and friends. It's different but I'm grateful that I have the chance to
tell everyone about this gospel. Reach out to others and be someone
that they can look up to. Your words and actions are so important even
when you don't realize they are. Love always, and be a light to
others.

Have a great week, and serve! Love you all.
