New Missionaries for Feb for the APM
Hi everyone!
This week has been pretty crazy.. I'll start by telling you about last
Tuesday... 'Twas very interesting. So I had to wake up at 2:30am and
be ready to get all of my bags to the travel office in the MTC by
3:30. Oh I was also the travel leader so yippeeeeee :) a lot of people
were joking that the only reason why I was the leader was because I'm
tall so everyone could see me.... But I'm pretty sure it was just
because my last name started with "A" haha so we road the tracks to
the airport and then when we got there I told my group to STAY EITH ME
AT ALL TIMES. Just so we could get to our gate and call our family
ect. Oh also there were 11 of us... So pretty big group. But 3 elders
decided to wander off and I couldn't find them for forever and I had
their tickets, so I decided to call them over the intercom haha! You
should've seen their faces when they saw me finally... It was
priceless... So we get on the airplane and get to AZ and our mission
president and his wife are there to greet us! They are so sweet and so
awesome I felt so much love for them already!! We drove to their house
(which is crazy nice) and dropped their stuff off and then we went to
the Phoenix Arizona temple!! It's gorgeous! After that we went back
AND TOOK A NAPPPP!! Probably the best nap of my life. And then the
rest of the night was just instruction and interviews and just
chillaxing... It was good! And I met slot of really awesome people! OH
MY GOSH IM FORGETTING THE BEST PART! So when I got to the griffin's
house, sister griffin (mission presidents wife) came up to and was
like "so you aren't an hermana?" (Which means she thought I was a
Spanish speaking sister missionary) and I kinda just looked at her and
I was like errrrrmmmm no... And she said that apparently I was
supposed to be speaking Spanish!! Haha isn't that crazy?? So now she
always jokes around me with and says that she's going to switch me to
an hermana... But she's really not.... I don't think :)
The next day I got to meet my companion!! Sister Bingham from West
Jordan Utah! She's super sweet and really great. And she loves working
out so its a companionship Made in heaven! I'm her 3rd trainee, she's
such a great missionary and teacher and I'm so glad I have her as my
first companion!
So, I am serving in Cottonwood AZ in the Mingus ward and YSA! There's
only like 10 people in YSA so this Sunday should be interesting! We
had stake conference this weekend which was good but hectic because I
was meeting everyone and everyone wanted to come talk to us, because
we are the only sister missionaries up here! And apparently everyone
loves sister missionaries here which is good :) but I'm getting used
to the area and everyone here!
After we drove from the valley to cottonwood I only had an hour to get
my stuff in the apartment and then we had our first lesson with a
family named the romanoff's... It reminded me of Anastasia haha :) but
they are a crazy awesome family! They are 7th day adeventist, and I
guess they weren't super into that so they decided to check out our
religion and found what ward they were supposed to be in and just
started going!! So we taught them the restoration and after I invited
them to be baptized and THEY SAID YES!! 5 people!! We set a date for
them during our second lesson. And it's March 26th and I am so so
excited!!!! So that was a good way to start off the mission :) it's
been really great so far and I've met a lot of really nice people :)
read your scriptures pray daily and just be happy!!! Love you all,
until next week!!
-Sister Arnold
