"Get in the water.... Get. In."

Well hey everyone!

I hope your week was as fabulous as mine. Or... Your weekend.... But I'm pretty sure my weekend takes the cake. WE BAPTIZED A FAMILY OF 5!! On Easter weekend!!!! How cool is that? First off, let me say that I love this family with all of my heart. They are such great examples of Christ and will continue to be. I just know it!! They were baptized on March 26th and confirmed on Easter Sunday :) on Saturday, sister Bingham and I got to the building 2 hours early... To fill the font... And also to practice our musical number and get everything organized. I found someone who let me borrow a flute!! So, sister Bingham played the piano and I played the flute. We played "in humility our savior", and it totally set the mood for the baptisms! We felt the spirit so strongly.
The only glitch we really had during the baptisms was when we opened the doors to the font and the water had gone down.... A lot..... Apparently the drain doesn't have a goo sealant.. So water leaks out. Sister Bingham and I looked at each other... Had a moment of panic... And told them to get in anyways haha :) it ended being really great.
On Sunday we had them confirmed!! Which was actually really nice. After their confirmations we had our Easter program. I sang in the choir...... It ended up being great though :)
Over the past few weeks I have been able to learn of the atonement of our savior Jesus Christ. I've gained a real testimony of his love for each of his children. With Sunday being Easter I was able to think and ponder the wonderful and amazing things Christ has done for us. He suffered and died so that we may live with him again. How amazing is that? Someone so perfect, could care and love for everyone around the world. I love the new Easter video because it shows different people around the world and their love for the savior. Sometimes it's hard to think outside of our own lives and hardships, but as we turn to the savior he can make it so much easier. Again, he has died so that we may repent and live with him again. I don't think I really understood how incredible that was before my mission. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time, but I'm grateful that I was able to open my eyes and see the love he has.
Im so grateful for the atonement and for the ability to repent of my sins.  A couple of weeks ago I went to our YSA branch and we had a lesson on the atonement and life of Jesus Christ. As we were talking about repentance and the repentance process, I felt like I should share something on repentance from my own understanding. Jesus Christ has given us repentance so that we may live with him again. If we sincerely repent and try our hardest to live good lives then we will see him again. Many of us, after repentance still think of those sins and they become a burden. If Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ can forgive those sins and forgive you of those sins, then you must in turn forgive yourself. Don't let those past transgressions hang over your head if they don't need to! Forgive and forget yourself and try harder the next day. We all sin, we all make mistakes, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want us to be the best we can be and to strive to live a life full of happiness.
I love you all!! Have a great week!! 😊

What area do you cover? Everything the light touches... Except Jerome...

Well hellllo everyone!!

So to explain my email title... An elder in our zone asked our
district what parts of cottonwood we cover. And cottonwood is so
spaced out that we each have a HUGE area. So my district leader says
"everything the light touches is ours.... But do you see that small
dark spot? That's Jerome.... We cover everything except Jerome" it was
so funny! Jerome is a little city on the side of the mountain that
missionaries can't go to... Because I guess some bad stuff happened
there, and it's a ghost town. So we don't go there :)
So this past week was CrAzY!! My companion and I cover a family ward
and a YSA ward. The YSA pretty much covers everything. It covers
cottonwood and the small cities around it, verde Valley and Sedona. So
we are all over the place! On Tuesday we tried to go and find one of
our YSA members, he wasn't there sadly but there was a guy named
Joseph sitting on the steps of the apartment kind where we were. He
called us over and asked us who we were and we told him. We then asked
if we could share a message about Jesus Christ with him! He goes "well
shoot, if it'll be interesting I wouldn't mind one bit!" And so we
shared the video "because of him" after the video I asked him how he
liked it and he replied " that was the most powerful and amazing video
ever!" So of course we were excited and we scheduled to talk with him
again! He's a really awesome guy!!
On Thursday we had mission tour, which is when someone really
important comes to talk to our mission. We were privileged to hear
from Elder and sister Arnold of the 70! What a coincidence right??! :)
when we first got there we were able to introduce ourselves to elder
and sister Arnold. And soon as sister Arnold saw my name tag she
shrieked "oh my daughter!!" Haha and she called me that for the rest
of the day, it was great :) Elder arnold talked to us about how we can
improve our missionary strategies. He talked to us about how to study
effectively and how to ask inspired questions. It was a really great
conference!!
Yesterday we were able to meet with our family of 5 on date for
baptism. They are so ready to be baptized and be apart of this faith.
Sister Bingham and I are always super excited to go and teach them
because we feel such an amazing spirit in their home. They are
constantly trying to learn and improve and it makes us so excited for
their baptism!! :)
I'm really grateful that I have the opportunity to serve a mission.
Yes, missions are incredibly hard but they are SO worth it. You will
receive countless blessing when you do. It's amazing the things I have
learned while being on my mission, and the things I continue to learn.
Turn to Christ in your times of need and I promise he will always be
there for you. He is the ONLY person who has felt what you felt and
experienced what you experienced. He loves you and I know this is
true. I'm so thankful to have the gospel in my life, I'm not sure what
I would do without it.
Have a great week!!!!

OH Cottonwood March 7th

Pre MTC Companion

Zone Meeting

My new fav. snack frozen Corn

Love this members car

Wow another Monday is here!! This past week was a little weird... I
had exchanges and then I had a meeting all day Friday... So part of it
was kinda slow and part was fast haha! On Tuesday my companion had to
go to the valley (Phoenix) for a sister training meeting because she's
a boss and everyone knows it haha! She's seriously great! So while she
was gone I went on exchanges which just means I had a different
companion for that time that she was gone. There are 2 sister training
leaders or STL's as we call them in the north part of AZ. So those two
went and I stayed here and was in charge of the area while she was
gone. I was super scared at first but we just did some service for a
member and then we and visited some people who are a little less
active. It's funny because in cottonwood there are a lot of older
women and men.. So whenever we get into someone's house that's older
we always know that we'll be there for a few hours haha :) but they
are so sweet and so nice to us so I don't mind! Plus they let us teach
them lessons, so that's always a nice thing!! Our zone conference was
SO FUN!!! It was up in flagstaff about an hour from where I am now.
The drive was so gorgeous!! We played jeopardy and a few other games
right when we got there. There's a lot of really fun people in my
zone, and it's fun because we all come from somewhere different! We
all got to bond and get to know each other super well! After playing
games we ate lunch and then had our actual meeting. We talked about
our purpose as missionaries and how we can get to know people in our
wards! It was really fun, and really informative. After we drove home
and planned for the next day! Saturday we had to ride our bikes
alllllllll over town. Why? You might ask. Because, my dear friends....
We have no miles :) we get a certain amount of miles each month for
our car. And we have so many meetings and things that are far from us
so we have to bike a lot this month.... But no worries!! That just
means I can eat a lot more food than usual because I'm biking it off!!
Haha :) Sunday was fast Sunday! And we decided to go to our little
tiny YSA branch. There are 8 active members of the YSA branch so fast
Sunday's are fun because EVERYONE gets to go :) I was the first one to
share my Testimony.... Because one of the leaders asked me to.... Hahah but it was
nice and I really enjoyed bearing my testimony. This week I've been
reading a lot about the atonement of Jesus Christ. It amazes me that
someone so perfect could atone for the sins of all of us. But I am so
so grateful that he did. That way I am able to see Heavenly Father and
Jesus Christ again. It makes me feel so loved to know that someone
loves everyone THAT much. I definitely recommend reading and learning
more about Jesus Christ and how he atoned for all of our sins. You'll
probably learn something new!
I miss and love you all... Thank you for all the nice emails. I really
appreciate everyone taking the time to write me! You are all
amazing!!!!

LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!

Sisters from the MTC

Sister Arnold's training Companion is on her third new Missionary in a row. Here is a pic of the all

New Missionaries for Feb for the APM

Hi everyone!

This week has been pretty crazy.. I'll start by telling you about last
Tuesday... 'Twas very interesting. So I had to wake up at 2:30am and
be ready to get all of my bags to the travel office in the MTC by
3:30. Oh I was also the travel leader so yippeeeeee :) a lot of people
were joking that the only reason why I was the leader was because I'm
tall so everyone could see me.... But I'm pretty sure it was just
because my last name started with "A" haha so we road the tracks to
the airport and then when we got there I told my group to STAY EITH ME
AT ALL TIMES. Just so we could get to our gate and call our family
ect. Oh also there were 11 of us... So pretty big group. But 3 elders
decided to wander off and I couldn't find them for forever and I had
their tickets, so I decided to call them over the intercom haha! You
should've seen their faces when they saw me finally... It was
priceless... So we get on the airplane and get to AZ and our mission
president and his wife are there to greet us! They are so sweet and so
awesome I felt so much love for them already!! We drove to their house
(which is crazy nice) and dropped their stuff off and then we went to
the Phoenix Arizona temple!! It's gorgeous! After that we went back
AND TOOK A NAPPPP!! Probably the best nap of my life. And then the
rest of the night was just instruction and interviews and just
chillaxing... It was good! And I met slot of really awesome people! OH
MY GOSH IM FORGETTING THE BEST PART! So when I got to the griffin's
house, sister griffin (mission presidents wife) came up to and was
like "so you aren't an hermana?" (Which means she thought I was a
Spanish speaking sister missionary) and I kinda just looked at her and
I was like errrrrmmmm no... And she said that apparently I was
supposed to be speaking Spanish!! Haha isn't that crazy?? So now she
always jokes around me with and says that she's going to switch me to
an hermana... But she's really not.... I don't think :)
The next day I got to meet my companion!! Sister Bingham from West
Jordan Utah! She's super sweet and really great. And she loves working
out so its a companionship Made in heaven! I'm her 3rd trainee, she's
such a great missionary and teacher and I'm so glad I have her as my
first companion!
So, I am serving in Cottonwood AZ in the Mingus ward and YSA! There's
only like 10 people in YSA so this Sunday should be interesting! We
had stake conference this weekend which was good but hectic because I
was meeting everyone and everyone wanted to come talk to us, because
we are the only sister missionaries up here! And apparently everyone
loves sister missionaries here which is good :) but I'm getting used
to the area and everyone here!
After we drove from the valley to cottonwood I only had an hour to get
my stuff in the apartment and then we had our first lesson with a
family named the romanoff's... It reminded me of Anastasia haha :) but
they are a crazy awesome family! They are 7th day adeventist, and I
guess they weren't super into that so they decided to check out our
religion and found what ward they were supposed to be in and just
started going!! So we taught them the restoration and after I invited
them to be baptized and THEY SAID YES!! 5 people!! We set a date for
them during our second lesson. And it's March 26th and I am so so
excited!!!! So that was a good way to start off the mission :) it's
been really great so far and I've met a lot of really nice people :)
read your scriptures pray daily and just be happy!!! Love you all,
until next week!!

February 17th ,2016

Hey everyone!!!
I have literally been looking forward to Wednesday since i got to the MTC... That was probably the longest, most exhausting, emotional, and spiritual week of my life and its just the beginning! On  Wednesday i got to know my district and started my first "class". i got to meet my companion.....
and see where I'm staying and they pretty much just showed us the whole MTC.
On Tuesday we started role playing and had 6 hours in the classroom.. that was definitely different and really challenging because they dont really tell you how to do anything. They just teach you a little bit and tell you to do it by yourself. I've learned a tn by doing that though! So its a good thing that they are doing that. Not gunna lie I've probably cried around 8 times since i've been here (which is alot less than all of the girls in my room) because its so so so so different from everything that I've ever done. i have to be with someone 24/7 except going to the bathroom. So, you can say that is definitely a challenge for me. But,even though the MTC is challenging there are alot more happy moments then sad moments. Thursday was just more class and roleplaying.
butttt on friday I ACTUALLY GOT TO WORKOUT AND RELIEVE SO MUCH STRESS!!! My companion hates working out.. but luckily we dont have to be together during that period of time so i workout with another sister that im rooming with and its really nice. We also got papers on friday that showed us who we would be teaching monday! we teach actual investigators here so that we can get practice. it's really nice because we usually just roleplay with our teachers, so this is super nice because its kinda how it will be out in the field.
On sunday we got to walk around the temple and kinda just chillax, after the walk around the temple we had a meeting with all of the sisters in the MTC about dress and grooming. after that we had lunch and then sacrament! It was kinda weird because there were 20 people there.. and thats it haha... and also we all had to prepare talks because our branch president just picks random people to give talks... So thats exciting!! After that we went to choir and let me just say that it was AWESOMEEEE!!! our choir director is so funny and he just makes things so much fun and exciting.
Monday, we went to class, worked out AND MET OUR FIRST INVESTIGATOR!! We get 2... but we have only met one. Her name is Miranda and she goes to BYU! She's so sweet and nice and we instantly clicked which is really important. The thing about some of these investigators is some of them are members and some of them arent.. But we treat every investigator like they arent members. (Even though im like 95% sure Miranda is a member bc sometimes you just know haha) but it went so good. We commited her to prayer and she said she would read the BOM! We gave her a reading assignment so tonight we'll see if she kept it :)
TUESDAY WAS THE BEST DAY EVER BESIDES PDAY!!! (which is today) On tuesdays at the MTC we have devotionals. Which is where we have someone important or awesome come speak to us. GUESS WHO CAMEEE!!! Elder Rasband!!! I was able to sing in the choir and listen to an apostle how flippen cool is that?? He talked about how he assigns missionaries to missions and the whole process he goes through. I felt the spirit so strong while in his presence. And let me just say he is so cool and nice!! So that was definitely the highlight on my whole entire week being here at the MTC. This week was sooooo long and i miss my family and friends so incredibly much. But, there's nothing that I'd rather being doing right now then serve the lord. I have felt and experienced so many amazing things this week that i could create a novel if i wanted.. I'm not going to but you get the idea haha I cannot wait until i get to Arizona.. I'm so ready :)

Also, MTC is literally disgusting. probably the most nasty food I've ever had :) SO MOM THANK YOU FOR SENDING ME ALL OF THAT FOOOOOD!! At the MTC I have Pdays on wednesday but i go to AZ on tuesday so i might not be able to email until the monday after.
I love you all. the church is true. you guys are all amazing and i miss you all so incredibly much.
